Q: Does homelessness exist in Lamoille County?
A: Yes, it does. In 2018, there were at least 97 households - including 80 children, 58 parents, and 54 singles - that did not have a home. Many of these individuals have additional challenges such as chronnic health problems, disabilities, mental illness, lack of transportation, and poverty. Q: Have these people found homes and has their homelessness ended? A: As of September, 2018, we have 27 homeless households on our Housing Solutions list in Lamoille County. Because we have not reached the "cold" season, only one of them is in shelter. |
Q: How many homeless did your shelter serve last year?
A: In year 1, between the dates of December 27, 2019 and April 14, 2018, our shelter filled 626 beds. Five of our guests were minors. Q: How does your shelter expect to best serve the homeless population of Lamoille Valley? A: In year 2 we hired staff and lead trainings in partnership with key service providers. Our goal is to maximize support and integration for our guests, and minimize repeat homelessness. |
